Please alert The Bayes Centre reception, bayes.reception@ed.ac.uk, of any incoming visitors, especially those with additional accessibility needs. All visitors can access Wi-Fi through the 'Visit-Ed" network.
A detailed accessibility guide for Bayes Centre (and all University of Edinburgh buildings) is available here: Bayes Centre | AccessAble
Please report any building faults to bayes.reception@ed.ac.uk where it will be reported to the appropriate University support service.
Kitchens, toilets and breakout areas are on all floors and are shared between building users. Please be aware that University cleaners or the Bayes Centre Team will not take any responsibility for any food and drink left behind in those areas and you should ensure they are always kept clean and tidy. Please be aware that areas adjacent to the kitchens, particularly at lunch times, are not appropriate locations for meetings.
Shared mix recycling and general waste bins are available throughout the building with additional glass recycling offered in the kitchens. Orange lidded bins are for clean recycling. All dirty or non-recyclable items should be put in the black lidded bins.
Smoking and vaping is not permitted in, as well as around, the Bayes Centre.
If you would like access to a private room and a fridge, please ask at reception and we would be happy to provide this for you.
Children are only permitted to enter University buildings for short visits and must be closely supervised at all times. Children are not allowed into buildings outside normal working hours (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).
All mail and packages delivered to the Bayes Centre should be for business purposes only and not personal use. Mail will be put into respective pigeonholes for individual collection.
Parcels must be picked up at reception during operating hours from 9am - 5pm and collected on the day of delivery without exception. Please notify us in advance of incoming parcels and ensure each is clearly labelled with the recipient's name and the Bayes Centre address.
Large deliveries require a designated individual onsite for handling. Food deliveries must be met at the entrance; reception will not accept them. We are not responsible for lost or damaged goods post-delivery. Royal Mail parcels go to Old College's central mail room and may face delays; contact the mail room at 0131 650 8008 for queries.
For outgoing parcels, ensure they are prepared and labelled correctly, brought to reception ahead of the collection time and include contact information for the pickup. Without proper arrangement, couriers may not collect the parcel.
A covered bicycle store, changing facilities, showers and hair dryers are available in the basement. If you would like access to these facilities, please email the University Transport Department at transport@ed.ac.uk.
